A holiday camp refers to a resort with a boundary that includes accommodation, entertainment and other facilities. Given this definition, a cruise ship is certainly like a holiday camp. A cruise line vacation is all-inclusive in terms of activities, accommodations, entertainment and fun. The only difference is that the boundary in question is the vast expanse of water that surrounds the ship.
As in the case of holiday camps, there are both onsite and nearby activities involved in a cruise ship. The activities can be both general in nature or theme based. For example, you may opt for a family cruise. In this case, the parents can indulge in adult recreation while the children are taken care of in crèches or by baby sitters. So while you as parents can polish your skills at table tennis, skating, swimming or pamper yourself in a spa, the children can attend special workshops, games, and other fun-filled activities and sports. The top-of-the-range cruise ships also offer facilities such as skating rinks, rock-climbing walls, fun pools, spa rooms, theatres, cinemas and gyms.
In a holiday camp, you can go for hiking, biking or you can simply drive around the scenic surroundings. The cruise ship, on the other hand stops at various ports and exciting places on route. Visiting these places can prove to be both an interesting and an educative experience.
Then again, standards of both holiday options vary. Yet, market surveys have shown that a cruise generally offers better facilities as compared to three-star hotels. In some cases, the smaller, top-of-the-range cruise ships have even exceeded the standards, service and facilities of five-star hotels.
