Cruise stories are sometimes very interesting. A few years ago during a cruise from Bangkok to Bombay, the first port of call was a town on an island which was a former garbage landfill site, though the epithet ‘former’ too was irrelevant. A party of cruisers visited the town and came back with their shoes filled with garbage. It was a stuffy hot humid day and the tourists were in low spirits. In the evening the chef on the ship prepared a special menu to celebrate the visit to the place. The menu was named, ‘The Mystery of India’. The printer, however, made a mistake and the title that came out was, ‘The Misery of India’.
Then there is a story of a group of travelers who got down from the cruise ship at Tahiti and went to a poolside to drink bottles of champagne that each one had brought. As they were emptying the bottles, the booze went a little to their heads and they started babbling loudly. Just then a party of dignitaries headed by the Prime Minister of France came to the pool. As the revelers got louder, a French officer came over and asked them to kindly speak ‘slowly’ meaning softly. They all laughed in unison and said OK as slowly as they could.
This story is about a telling T-shirt in Virgin Islands. While walking along a street in St. Thomas, a couple spotted a pregnant woman clad in a T-shirt with the words "I AM A VIRGIN" printed on the front. As they passed by her, they noticed the back of the shirt bearing the words “THIS IS AN OLD SHIRT".
